Filipino singer Sofronio Vasquez sang his heart out to Elvis Presley’s “If I Can Dream” during the “The Voice” United States live show, aiming to be part of the final five contestants.
Vasquez, who is among the Top 8 finalists, left viewers swooning over his soothing voice, as seen in a performance video shared by “The Voice” through its Facebook page on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Article continues after this advertisementAside from “If I Can Dream,” Vasquez also performed a duet with fellow contestant Jeremy Beloate, singing “Every Breath You Take” with the songwriter himself, Sting, playing the bass.
After his live performances, Vasquez took to his Facebook page to go on live and ask fans to vote for him to be included in the Top 5.

Article continues after this advertisement“I had the best time with the energy and the video. I just had that specific note,” he continued, referring to an apparent mistake in his performance. “I practiced it well but you know, it’s live, we can’t do anything about it.”
Nonetheless, Vasquez underscored that the love and support he receives from the public keep him confident. He also expressed gratitude to those who include him in their prayers.
The voting for the finalists who will make it to the next round will run until Dec. 3, Tuesday evening (Tuesday morning in the US).
Vasquez, who is also an alum of the local singing competition “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” is part of the team of “The Voice” coach Michael Bublé.
